The valley of Sham in the lower part of Ladakh, is celebrated for its beauty and richness during the harvesting season. This trek follows the old caravan route to Lamayuru which diverges from the Kargil-Leh road at the Phatu La. According to legend, Lamayuru was once a lake, which miraculously disappeared by the hand of Lotsawa Naropa.The monastery at Lamayuru built in the 10th century is one of the oldest in Ladakh, and belongs to the Kargyu sect of Tibetan Buddhism. This trek offers not only view of the many natural beauties of Ladakh, but also some of its most famous monasteries and the traditional lifestyle of the natives.

| Day / 01 : Leh – Lamayuru (2-3 HRS) |
After breakfast, drive to the Lamayuru (128 kms, 2/3 hrs approx) , enroute visit Likir and Alchi Monastery. Have you pack luch at Alchi. Later drive to Lamayuru, upon arrival you chek in to your private camp. Tea and biscuits wil be ready with the tea. You will be introduced to support staff by your guide. In the evening walk to the Lamayuru Monastery situated on the top of the hill. It is an spectacularly picturesque monastery, believed to be the oldest in Ladakh - the Lamayuru monastery Overnight stay in tents.

| Day/ 02: Lamayuru – Wanla (3,750 MTR) 4 HRS |
After an early breakfast transfer to. After lunch proceed to Wanla (Start of trek). From Lamayuru village, you will follow the trail down to the valley for about 2-km before diverting up the ridge to the east, a trail that climbs up to Prinkti La (3750 M). You will pass Shilakong valley before coming to the village and monastery of Wanla. A campsite will be established aside Wanla river, where you will spend the night. Overnight stay in tents.

| Day/ 03 : Wanla - Hinju village (4 - 5 HRS) |
After breakfast, begin trekking across the main bridge and around the bank of the Wanla river. The village of Panji La marks the entrance of the Hinju valley. After touring the village school and apricot orchards, continue your trek to Hinju village. This village has three main settlements, the lower, the main, and the upper Hinju village. You will pass through these three settlements and camp at the base of Konze La pass. The rest of the day is left at leisure to explore the surrounding landscape. Overnight stay in tents.

Day/ 04: Hinju village - Sumdo Chinmo (6 - 7 HRS)

After breakfast, trek on a steady climb past the Hinju village and various goat and shepherd camps. The trail gradually winds down to the valley past a lone Yak herder encampment, located at the base of the Konze La pass (approx. 3 hours). From the pass, you will enjoy spectacular views of the Ladakh range and the Karokoram ranges. After a brief stop at the pass, start descending back to the valley. The yak herders huts are occupied during the summer months by villagers from the Sumdo Chumo village, where you will camp for the night. Overnight stay in tents.

| Day/ 05: Sumdo chinmo - Dundunchen la (4-5 HRS) |
| After breakfast start trekking to the Dundunchen La base. Begin walking along the river, where you will visit a small monastery and some large stone statues of Maitreya Buddha. Reach the Dundunchen La base after a steep ascent over a side ridge, taking about an hour, but unparalleled in beauty as a profusion of edelweiss and other wild flowers cover the ground. This afternoon is left free to explore the area and recuperate after a strenuous morning. Overnight stay in tents. |

| Day/ 06: Dundunchen La - Chilling village (6 - 7 HRS) |
| After breakfast, trek to the Chilling village. The trail winds past the Yak herders camp before zigzagging across the slopes to the pass. Enroute, there are splendid views of Konze La and the Ladakh range. Upon arrival in Chilling, you will visit the local craftsmen of the village. These local craftsmen claim to be descendants of four craftsmen brought in from Nepal to construct the gigantic Sakyamuni image at the Shey Monastery. All male members of the village still practice ancestral crafts. Overnight stay in tents. |
